This page has been set up in memorial to my Dad, Mike Downey who passed away on 13th December 2020 after a short illness, aged 71.

As a family we are asking anyone who wishes to mark Dad's death to do so with a donation rather than with flowers or cards, as Dad didn't really care for those things. 

One of the things Dad very much did care about was his beloved Everton Football Club. He was a regular match goer for over 60 years. He was at different times both a season ticket holder with both his sons, as well as match day program seller for many years - an additional job he took as it allowed him a way for Dad, me and Colin to be able to visit Goodison when this otherwise couldn't happen.

He loved the club and was proud of the many achievements he was able to witness while a fan; league title victories, FA cup wins and European success. He also witnessed great players such as Ball, Royle, Southall, Ratcliffe, Sheedy and Sharp. However, his favourite would forever be the 'Golden Vision' Alex Young.

Dad was also very proud of the fact that our club has grown to be the centre of it's community and that it continually works hard to support those around it as a true 'People's Club'. And it is to support this work that we are asking for donations, all of which will go to Everton in the Community the clubs charity.

We believe this is a fitting tribute to dad and his passion for Everton and will be very grateful for anything people can donate.
