We support the work of Royal Papworth Hospital as the UK’s leading centre of excellence for the treatment and diagnosis of cardiothoracic disease, to provide additional amenities for our patients and their families and to fund Papworth’s pioneering research activity and vision for the future.

Story

Hello!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am raising money to support Papworth Hospital Charity.

This is why...
Along with other school alumni from 35 years ago we used the power of the internet to find old friends for the obligatory school reunion.
We hadn't seen Gill Thomas (now Gill Luck) for 35 years. She had been an all too brief interlude in our grey formative years in Scunthorpe - a bright, bubbly, pretty girl who landed and immediately brought sunshine to Scunny from Mexico -  with a cosmopolitan American accent, cool Dallas Cowboys t'shirts, the prettiest smile and the curliest golden locks.
Then she bogged off after 18 months or so! (We believe she was kidnapped and imprisoned in a girls school).

Anyway - we found her again last year - hurrah!
She's now a bright, bubbly, pretty lady, with a fabulous husband (Nigel), friends and family, and a lovely dog, ... and a very serious medical condition called Pulmonary Hypertension (please google it to understand more).
She has been through more procedures, operations and treatments than I can even begin to understand. The effect of this condition on the whole of Gill and her family's life is of course massive.
There is no cure for Pulmonary Hypertension.

Yet,  Gill is still a bright, bubbly, pretty lady, with a fabulous husband, friends and family, and a lovely dog, and she has inspired me to do this sponsored bike ride in honour of her and Nigel and in support of her chosen Papworth Hospital Charity.

Please give generously. I've set the bar at £1000. It would be fantastic to break it..
