Virgin London Marathon 2014 · 13 April 2014 ·

We’re the only charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. That’s why we help children who’ve been abused to rebuild their lives, we protect children at risk, and we find the best ways of preventing child abuse from ever happening.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the Mike & Nicky 2014 Paris and London Marathon JustGiving page.

So how did we end up here?!

During the 2013 London marathon Mike ran, chundered and then staggered his way to the finish in a time of 5hrs 17 mins. Even though he loved the occasion, the wonderful support and raising funds for the NSPCC, he didn’t want that to be his last marathon experience. When the Expedia ballot for 2014 places came around he applied immediately.

In hindsight this was a rash, impulsive decision especially as he was reminded post application by Nicky that the London Marathon is happening on the 13th April - our 1st wedding anniversary!

Nicky and I came to the conclusion that if one of us was training on our own for the marathon doing the cold, wet training runs whilst the other was enjoying a morning lie in, an evening glass (s) of wine by the fire and nights out with friends then we would probably be heading for a divorce!!!

So Nicky is running the Paris marathon on the 6th April and Mike the London Marathon on the 13th April and we hope to raise £2,000 in aid of the NSPCC.

We decided to raise money for a cause that we all feel passionate about, which led us to the NSPCC. The NSPCC is a charity that campaigns for and works in child protection in the UK and makes a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children. Raising money for the NSPCC has created a great incentive during training, surviving painful sports massages, and not quitting on our sadistic personal trainer and hopefully on the day running a great race!

Please help us reach our target by donating below. Any donation is hugely appreciated and will not only help vulnerable children throughout the UK but will help motivate us with every step we take towards the finish line.
