Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Our beautiful daughter Mila gained her wings on 26th August 2021 at 37 weeks. She literally was perfect, and not a minute goes by without us missing her desperately.
She was born peacefully at 2.08am, a moment which as parents we will never forget. As a parent, to hold your baby knowing you will never see their open eyes or hear their first cry is the worst pain imaginable. But we were able to spend precious time with Mila and made as many memories as possible in the short time we had at the bereavement suite at Frimley Park Hospital which is part funded by SANDs.
SANDs have continued to help and support us, including by placing an engraved leaf with Mila's name on the memorial tree at Ray Mill Island in Maidenhead. This has given us a space to visit as a family and is a focal point for remembering our daughter and other babies gone. We have also connected with wonderful parents as a result of the SANDs community, who have seen us through the hardest and darkest times whilst grieving for their own babies.
As such, we shall be taking part in the Thames Path Challenge 2022, walking (and possibly some jogging!) 25km in memory of Mila and all babies gone too soon, to raise awareness of stillbirth and neonatal death, but to also raise money for SANDs.
Unfortunately, stillbirth and neonatal death is far too common. 13 babies die each day before, during or soon after birth in the UK. So all the money which we raise in Mila's memory will make a huge difference to the lives of bereaved families in their darkest hours.
