Story

Challenging My Limits for a Cause Close to My Heart

As many of you might know, I've been a passionate advocate for cancer research and support for those affected by it. While I have been annually participating in races for breast cancer and Cancer Research UK, I felt a compelling need to do more this year, so, I am taking my commitment a step further by competing in the Birmingham Hyrox competition on the 21st October 2023 to fundraise. But before I dive into my story, let me share a bit about what Hyrox is.

Hyrox is a fitness event, designed for everyone, from the everyday athlete to the elite. It combines running with functional fitness exercises, providing an exhaustive test of one's physical limits. It's not just about speed; it's about endurance, agility, and mental strength.
The question I often get is - why Hyrox and why Macmillan Cancer charity? The answer is deeply personal.

Cancer has cast a long shadow over my family. We've lost my Uncle and Grandfather to this relentless disease. Beyond my family, I've witnessed friends grieve the loss of their loved ones to cancer. Every tear shed, every memory recounted, underscores the urgency to act, to support, and to bring awareness.

Macmillan Cancer charity has been a beacon of hope for countless individuals. Their unwavering support to cancer patients and their families, both physically and emotionally, is inspiring. By competing in Hyrox for Macmillan, I hope to raise funds that will assist in their incredible work, ensuring that no one has to face cancer alone.

By supporting me in this competition, you are not just cheering for an athlete pushing her boundaries, but you are also becoming a part of a collective effort against a disease that has taken too many. I am grateful for every word of encouragement, every donation, and every share of my story.

Together, we run, lift, sweat, and most importantly, hope. Because every stride, every rep, and every drop of sweat brings us closer to a world where cancer becomes just a word, and not a sentence.

I appreciate times are tough and money is tight, so any support is greatly appreciated wether that's sacrificing your daily coffee for a £3 donation or simply a share on Facebook. Thanks for supporting my fundraising. Donating through JustGiving ensures your details are safe, they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. Thank you.
