Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Thanks for taking an interest in my quest to raise money for MS Society Scotland, a charity very close to my heart
I am planning to run the Ramathon in Derby on 8th June this year (2014) www.ramathon.co.uk and I may try to do a few other shorter runs during the rest of the year, but this does all depend on how the big run goes having never done a half marathon before!
I am motivated to take up this challenge to raise the money specifically for MS Society Scotland as my cousin, who lives in Scotland has had MS now for nearly 22 years and he has secondary progressive MS www.mssociety.org.uk/what-is-ms/types-of-ms/secondary-progressive-spms. He is 40 this year and requires round the clock care.
I want to do my bit to raise money for continuing research into a cure for MS. All money raised will go towards MS-SMART a clinical trial, which will test three different drugs at once in people with secondary progressive MS – for more details of the programme go to www.mssociety.org.uk/ms-research/research-blog/2013/12/ms-smart-putting-ground-work-groundbreaking-trial Currently there are no treatments that slow or stop the progression of disability in people with progressive MS.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a neurological condition which affects around 100,000 people in the UK and Scotland has one of the highest incidences of MS in the world.
To all who donate I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
