Mike and I have joined together to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Trust by taking part in the Born Survivor Challenge on September 24th 2016.

Born Survivor is a military course with over 30 obstacles. We will be running, climbing, leaping, sliding and crawling over a 10KM course full of lots and lots and lots of mud!

We have chosen Cystic Fibrosis Trust as it is a charity very close to our hearts! We want to raise awareness and money for a life unlimited.

Before I met Mike in 2013, I had no clue to what Cystic fibrosis (cf) was and how it changes people’s lives who suffer from cf.  Although Mike, like many others, looks perfectly healthy - having cystic fibrosis is a lifelong challenge involving constant daily intakes of drugs, time-consuming physiotherapy and isolation from others with cf, just to stay healthy.

Cystic fibrosis is a life-shortening genetic condition that kills thousands worldwide and is carried unknowingly in the genes of millions of people. It is caused by a single defective gene, and slowly destroys the lungs and digestive system. There are nearly 10,000 people with cystic fibrosis in the UK. Only half will live to celebrate their 40th birthday. 

• 5 babies are born with cystic fibrosis each week in the UK.
• 2 lives are lost every week in the UK to the condition.
• 1 in 25 of us carries the faulty gene that causes cystic fibrosis, most without knowing it.
• If two carriers have a child, there is a 1 in 4 chance their baby will be born with cystic fibrosis.

We are fundraising for change. It’s why we must develop better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

Cystic fibrosis is a race we must win!
