Hi Everybody,   

In early 2012, Kevin Cosgrove started off with the aim to raise £4,811 for Cancer Research UK.  This target was smashed with donations to date totalling £8,850 (£10,940 including gift aid).

Kevin, in spite of battling cancer, decided to attempt to summit Mont Blanc, Chamonix, France to raise money for Cancer Research UK.  Mont Blanc is Western Europe’s highest mountain at 15,782ft (4,811m),

Kevin, with five of his good friends, Chris Malham, Dave and Damon Harris, Justin and Paul Foulkes, travelled to France in September 2012 to attempt the climb.  However, it was not possible at that time after completing tough acclimatisation exercises.

Kevin’s team have never given up and have trained hard to attempt the climb again in Kevin’s honour on the 29^th June 2014.

Kevin very sadly passed away in October 2012.   His memory lives on in all his family and friends.  Kevin would be so proud of his friends completing this challenge that he fought so hard to try and achieve.

Thank you so much to Kevin’s team.  Unfortunately Chris Malham is unable to continue in this quest due to medical reasons.  However, joining the team this time is Garry Burrow, a close friend and best man at his wedding.  We all appreciate your commitment and determination to achieve Kevin’s goal and continue to raise awareness and funds for Cancer Research.

The team only have a couple of weeks before the climb and would be overwhelmed with any further donations. This is an extremely tough challenge which will test their ability to walk and climb at long distances in extreme cold and on difficult terrain, tackling potential altitude sickness and injuries along the way.

We cannot thank everyone enough who have already donated.  Kevin was thrilled with every donation and words of encouragement during the most difficult time of his life.

The funds raised will go directly to Cancer Research UK to help the people who have been diagnosed with cancer and for those unfortunate people who may suffer in the future from this dreadful disease.
