I am passionate about raising as much money as possible for The Windward Foundation and I need your help to do so. The Windward Foundation is a fabulous organisation which helps increase life opportunities for people with Learning Difficulties. The foundation supports individuals in four areas.  Windward and Tools for Self Reliance in Totton, Thrive in Chandlers Ford, Spiral Blue in Ringwood and Forest Wave in New Milton. The overall aim of all activities is to encourage and enable individuals to increase their experiences, skills and independence. Activities run during the day, evenings and at weekends.

Participating in different activities where success no matter how small is positively achieved, enables individuals to find out more about themselves and their abilities. This increases their self-confidence, self-esteem and self-worth. Positive experiences with an appropriate level of support helps to focus on one's abilities and promotes independence.

The Foundation funds activities which would otherwise not be available.  For example, one off trips to London with an over-night stay, holiday breaks to Butlins or Centre Parcs. A group a few years ago went on a skiing trip to Austria. These events enable individuals to enjoy time away with their peers as well as provide invaluable respite for parents and carers. Funds raised also provide specialised equipment to help increase communication skills necessary for independent living.
