On 27th July 2014, Barry Sage, Julian Moore, Neil Sanderson and Lee Pringle will walk 100Km (62 miles) across the South Down Way in under 30 hours with The Royal Gurkha Rifles, to raise money for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust.

Team support, organisation and general entertainment will be provided by Mirka Sage, Sarah Sanderson and the kids essential for boosting morale and supplying fresh socks.

What is the Trailwalker?

The Queen's Gurkha Signals Regiment (QGS) in Hong Kong first started Trailwalker more than 30 years ago as a training exercise to test soldiers’ stamina and teamwork skills. In 2002 Trailwalker UK was opened up to the public via a partnership with Oxfam and has since grown into a major fundraising event for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust (GWT). The course record for the 100Km challenge stands at a staggering 9 hours and 50 minutes! (By a team from the Gurkha Rifles).

How tough is the Trailwalker?

The statistics speak for themselves......

Total Elevation Gained

UK Trailwalker = 2500 meters

UK 3 Peaks Challenge = 3407 meters

Total Distance

UK Trailwalker = 62.12 miles

London Marathon 26.2 miles
