In April 2021, my daughter Emma, fell from a height and fractured her spine and the spinal cord was injured. After 6 weeks in hospital, Emma was transferred to the National Spinal Injury Centre in Stoke Mandeville and for three months she received the most amazing care. 

Due to Covid and a very busy rehabilitation schedule we were only allowed to visit on weekends. We spent those weekends in Horatio's garden, where we could escape the hospital environment and just be in a garden. We played board games, met the other residents, enjoyed wonderful cakes from the volunteers and just spent time as a family. I know Emma was often there as well during the week making the most of some of the activities such as drawing and meeting with the other residents. It made our visits so much more enjoyable.
