Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Last April, my father in law, Tony Tordoff, passed away peacefully in the beautifully serene surroundings of Dove House Hospice, Hull.

He was diagnosed with Myeloma (a form of blood cancer) some ten years previously, and since then, did all he possibly could to raise awareness of the disease, and to help anyone who was also suffering with Myeloma. He constantly strived to enlighten the path for other patients who followed the route that he had taken, and couldn’t do enough to help others with the same condition. (Fundraising, support groups, speaking at events etc.)

In the end, his last few days were spent at Dove House Hospice, and although not in any way planned, it was the most dignified and peaceful time for both him and his family. From the moment that he arrived, he was treated with the utmost care and respect.

Hospices such as Dove House receive only a very small amount of government funding, and rely hugely upon ‘outside help’.

In order to raise some money to help Dove House to continue their fantastic work, I am going to cycle 500 miles in 5 days, (two complete coast to coasts) between the 13th and 17th June 2018.

The route is :
Huddersfield to Bridlington (Wednesday 13th June)
Bridlington to Skegness (Thursday 14th June)
Skegness to Ripley, Derbyshire (Friday 15th June)
Ripley to Southport (Saturday 16th June)
Southport to Huddersfield (Sunday 17th June)

Those who know me well, will realise that this is something quite new for me, (and will be something of a challenge!), but I am determined to do it in memory of  Tony, and will certainly be driven by his undoubted ‘colourful words of encouragement!’
