London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
While raising money for a charity half marathon I received a mail from a work colleague raising money for Nerve Tumours UK by running the London Marathon. I passed on a donation but thought the best way to give my support to her and her family would be to do it as well. So I promised that if I raised over £500 for my half marathon, I would run London the following year in aid of Nerve Tumours UK - I raised nearly £900 and so here I am.
Nerve Tumours UK provide crucial support to people living with the Neurofibromatosis- the conditions that cause nerve tumours. They are dominant genetic conditions, which means that they can be passed on in families from one generation to the next through genetic inheritance. Similarly, about half of nerve tumours cases recorded have no previous family history of the condition. In other words, it can occur totally “out of the blue”.
At the time of writing, this is my first Marathon (edit :just done Manchester). I'm going to aim for a quick time so it's going to hurt like hell. I'm nervous at thought and have loads of training ahead. Please donate and keep me motivated through the long training runs ahead and help me hit my target for NTUK.
