Story

Hey guys, this is my story  -

In October 2019, as a 38 yo mum, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, just 7 weeks before I was due to get married to the father of my 2 beautiful (most of the time) children. I was told I would have the ‘gold star’ treatment - 7 rounds of chemotherapy followed by a mastectomy and lymph node removal, 3 weeks of radiotherapy, 18 rounds of targeted treatment and 10 years on an additional preventative drug. I also had  a full hysterectomy and oophorectomy as a precaution, oh joy!! But hey, still going strong 💪🏻👊🏻

I am pleased to say the wedding went ahead and I started my chemotherapy the day after we returned from getting married. My husband definitely won the jackpot…married life started off with me going bald, having one less boob and going into menopause early!!!!!

The past two years has been a massive rollercoaster with various health issues caused by my treatment. So I really struggled to be a proper mummy to our children as I was always recovering from one thing or another! But I’m blessed and happy to say that I am now in remission and recovering well and feel so lucky!!

During the hard times we had one particular charity run by amazing people supporting us all, The Willow Foundation. Sending our kids gifts, words of support and a fantastic family break away from it all! I can’t tell you how much this helped the kids by having something normal to look forward to. Had it not been for my diagnosis we’d have never known about this fantastic charity that helps family’s at a real time of need. The pandemic has hit Willow hard as they rely on fundraising which wasn’t easy to do through lockdown. So I have decided to try and give something back and I am going to walk 100 miles in October.

Any donation, however small, will be hugely appreciated! Thank you!
