Nasim runs the Great North Run for dementia #EdnaLass

Simplyhealth Great North Run 2019 · 8 September 2019 ·
We lost a beautiful, wonderful soul last year.
Edna Bagley had a long and happy life - and this is something I'll always be grateful for. But over the last few years of her existence, dementia and Alzheimers Disease began to set in.
She never lost the essence of herself, but we watched as regular faces faded to memory in moments, as stories from her life stubbornly took up roots on the tip of her tongue. We got used to seeing the look of confusion as my beautiful grandma struggled to remember things she knew she should know.
Dementia didn't kill my Grandma, but it meant we began to lose parts of her long before she finally passed.
I felt powerless to fix my grandma for years. She was my favourite person and she taught me more about love than anyone I've ever met. I miss her every single day, and I just want to put some goodness out there, to try and positively impact the lives of others like her and the families that were as drawn out as ours was.
So please support me taking on a challenge that is way beyond my comfort zone and honours a proper Washy lass - wor Edna <3
