Get Ovar It - Natalia's 1in10 Challenge

1in10 Challenge 2022 · 1 March 2022 to 31 March 2022 ·
The Endometriosis UK charity is especially important to me as they've been a great support through my own recent endo journey. So, that's why I'm taking on their #1in10 Challenge!
What is Endometriosis?
Endometriosis affects #1in10 women and those assigned female at birth, that's as many as diabetes yet very few people have even heard of it. It's a condition where cells similar to the ones in the lining of the womb (uterus) are found elsewhere in the body. It's a chronic and often debilitating condition and can currently only be diagnosed via surgical procedure. The only treatment options are: Painkillers, Hormone treatments and (non-permanent) invasive surgery.
My story
I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Endometriosis back in 2018 after many months of debilitating pain and tests that led to no answers. After a cyst ruptured in my ovary which caused an emergency hospital visit, I finally got referred to a specialist who validated my pain and booked me for my first surgery in 2019. Three years later, I've just had my second surgery to remove multiple cysts from my ovaries. I struggle with endo symptoms on a daily basis, and unfortunately my journey doesn't end here. I require another surgery later this year to remove endo from my cervix - and needless to say, I am OVAR IT. But I'm really hoping this will be my final step and the more women I meet through this charity who suffer from the same illness, the more supported and empowered I feel.
My plan
During the month of March I'm going to be raising funds to go towards helping us find a cure, and celebrating with a 10km walk through London at the end of the month.
I understand things are tough for us all at the moment, and I really appreciate you reading, finding out more about this condition and donating anything at all if you are able to 💰
