Story

I am doing this 10 mile (Yes miles not km!) run for my Dad in October who sadly passed away a year ago from lung cancer. My Dad was the funniest man I knew with a big heart, he could connect with anyone & always made you feel special. He was only 63 when he died and only took 3 months of being properly ill. He had lots of interests and had a jet ski, kayak and enjoyed his life doing photography and always loved a party and to travel the world. We all have or know of someone where cancer has taken a chunk of their heart. Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer deaths and equates to 21%. It has the highest mortality rate amongst all cancers.

Over the last decade, lung cancer mortality rates have decreased by 10% and are projected to fall by 20% by 2035. This is because of the ground breaking research that is being done by cancer research. There are around 35,600 lung cancer deaths in the UK every year, that's 98 every day. There are thousands of people that have lung surgery or live with one lung and survive.

I work for the NHS and am proud to say that the care he received at Poole & Bournemouth hospital was excellent. I would like to raise money for Cancer Research so that other people can survive. I am not a runner and have only done a few small runs but am training hard for this as he would be proud of me but also think I’m a Ejiit for running this far. Please help this cause by donating whatever you can
