I am running the 2026 EMF 10k for Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres in honour of my friend and colleague, Amanda, who has benefitted greatly from the support provided by this fantastic charity during her treatment for lymphoma over the last year.

Amanda says: "Maggie's has been there in any way I needed them to be, from offering me a cup of tea after chemo, to calming an absolute freak out during diagnosis. They're there for anyone with cancer, or with loved ones with cancer, and offer a space to breathe, practical advice and emotional support. Everyone should have a Maggie's when they need one."

Most people will know that I am very much not a runner. I had just finished the couch-to-5k programme when I found out I was pregnant with my second son in November 2023, and have not been for a single run since then. The EMF 10k will definitely be no walk in the park, despite starting and finishing in Holyrood Park. In fact, the first 5k go straight up and round Arthur's Seat...
