My cousin Cheryl was diagnosed with primary central nervous system (CNS) Lymphoma in December 2021. The cancer she has is rare with only 1% being diagnosed each year.

Her determination and positivity throughout has been remarkable, and has left me full of admiration for her,  especially when covid was thrown into the mix. She has spent the past 6 months in and out of hospital receiving chemotherapy and will soon commence an intense course of radiotherapy. It has been a really tough 6 months, which she has tackled head on, with the support of her family and friends.

In the light of Cheryl’s illness, I have decided to raise money for Lymphoma Action UK. This is the UK’s only charity dedicated to lymphoma. They have been providing in-depth, expert information and wide-ranging support for over 30 years, helping thousands of people affected by lymphoma. Their work drives improvements in the diagnosis, treatment, and aftercare of lymphoma. They are there for everyone affected by lymphoma.

As a keen cyclist, I have completed challenges in the past. However, my plan here is to take on by far the toughest challenge yet, and to cycle from London to Edinburgh and back again (in one go) alongside my partner, Paddy. This ride (https://londonedinburghlondon.com/) will be nearly 1000 miles over 5 days, and takes place in just a few weeks (August 2022). I will be attempting this despite recent injuries, and hoping for cooler weather than we’ve recently experienced.
