Story
A few years ago, a friend told me that they were doing a fundraising hike for Macmillan Cancer Support along the Northumberland coast. What a great idea, I thought. Fast forward to 2021 - why am I taking part in the 26 mile marathon Mighty Hike this year? Of course, to raise as much as possible for Macmillan to support the great work that they do. But it’s also a little more personal than that. As many of you will know, towards the end of 2018 I was diagnosed with a distal cholangiocarcinoma. Although it’s been a bit of a bumpy ride since then, I’m still here!
So this is not only a personal challenge, but an opportunity to thank so many at Macmillan and the NHS for their care. In particular, my consultant surgeon, Miss Sarah Thomasset, and oncologist Dr. Lucy Wall, without whom I wouldn’t have this chance to ask you to empty your wallets for me! Thanks so much for supporting my fundraising.
Best wishes,
Neil
