Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm taking part in the Clipper Round the World Race, as this challenge - on a very personal level, as well as a team experience - really excites me. I'm also scared and I know that there will be times (probably quite a few) where it will be no fun - but it wouldn't be a real challenge without those.

I'll sail on 5 different oceans to make this journey. Unfortunately, all the earth's oceans face much bigger challenges then they will throw at us. The challenges he oceans face are man made - pollution with plastic waste, overfishing, rising temperatures to name just a few.   As the oceans are still the #1 food source for us, there is no option but to better protect them.

Blue Marine is a charity which - I think - has a very sensible approach, working with local communities to create marine protection parks. They have achieved interesting results reducing overfishing, which led to a recovery of fish populations and enhanced returns for local fishermen.

I believe ocean conservation can only work in close so operation with costal communities and Blue Marine has a very promising approach and is showing results.

I hope you support them to protect the source of life on earth, which never stops to fascinate me as a sailor and diver.

If I can raise 10 pence for every nautical mile I sail - that would be a huge success and make a real impact.

Thanks

Nic
