Story
In March of this year I was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) after I took the assessment to address issues I was having with being a functional human being in our society. I have greatly benefited from the support opened up to me from my friends, family, professionals and institutions since being diagnosed.
Not everyone is as lucky as I have been, but a wider understanding of autism will help everyone to accept themselves and others and help make our society a more inclusive place for everyone.
I’m still learning where my autism puts me in the grand scheme of things, but my diagnosis has helped to reinforce what I already I believed in: that it’s important to work towards a society that is accessible to everyone and takes care of those whose needs are greater than our own.
As such, I'm taking part in the 60 Miles in June challenge in aid of the National Autistic Society. The National Autistic Society are there to help the 700,000 autistic people in the UK and their families - be it running specialist schools, campaigning for improved rights or training companies on being more autism-friendly, they are dedicated to transforming lives and changing attitudes.
Your donations towards my efforts are greatly appreciated and not only that, but they will also be a huge help in creating a society that works for all autistic people and their families, thank you! 💜
