Story

I will be riding in the Injured Jockeys Fund Charity Race celebrating HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee at Newbury Racecourse on Saturday May 14th. The Injured Jockeys Fund provides support for jockeys and their families in their time of need and I aim to raise £5,000 for this very worthy charity. Thank you.

As the wife (who had a young baby at the time) of someone who has a serious traumatic brain injury, both the immediate aftermath and then the longer recovery period were extremely challenging in so many ways. You have to adapt to a whole new way of life, look after both your partner and your family – and life as you knew it, is never the same again.

I would like to thank the IJF because without them we wouldn’t be where we are now.  They helped me right from the moment George was in hospital in St Moritz, and have helped every step of the way ever since. I want to do this race to go a little way to repaying them for what they did for us, and what they do for all stricken jockeys and their families.
