Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Many Veterans that I work with face challenges and overcome barriers in day to day life, due to their mental health. I chose to take on my own personal challenge of swimming 5 kilometres in open water, to raise awareness and funding for providing treatment to military Veterans at Combat Stress charity.
Combat Stress charity supports Veterans who are suffering with their mental health, predominantly PTSD. It was founded in 1919 in the wake of the First World War and since then Combat Stress has helped over 100,000 Veterans. In the last 5 years, Combat Stress has seen an increase of 71% referrals from Veterans and £15 million funding is required per year to deliver the unique range of specialist treatment.
As a member of staff at Combat Stress, I have seen Veterans improve and have a better quality of life through not only our support and therapy but also their own dedication and motivation. This inspired me to complete the Great North Swim in the Lake District.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated and put to great use within the charity.
