At the age of 46 our Jim was unexpectedly diagnosed with an extremely aggressive form of blood cancer. Cancer robbed him in so many ways and ultimately took his life 19 months later. What cancer could not do was crush or break the spirit of the man that we all respected and loved so much.
Jim ran the London Marathon twice and would sometimes say I should do it for the experience, I always dismissed it as it certainly was never my idea of fun ! During Jim's final days in hospital I made him some promises and one of them was that I would do a marathon for him. A promise made is a promise to be kept so here we are .........
This Team Jim event is made up of my amazing Dad and youngest brother Andrew who organised these places for us and offered the challenge up for 2019 !! Jim loved and respected both these men so much and will be smiling down willing us on through the gruelling training. Jim's relentless positivity, strength and warrior spirit will definitely be on our minds over the coming weeks and of course on the day of the Marathon.
Please support us in our quest to honour the promise I made to an amazing man who is so greatly missed by so many people. The lives he touched and affected during the biggest challenge of his life are countless. Here's to a true gentleman who beneath the surface was a warrior with a lion heart who never quit. His example to live, laugh and love to max will always live on.
