Great South Run 2016 · 23 October 2016 ·
Dear friends,
Here I go again. This time on the invitation of my lovely sister in law, Natalie. I live up north but grew up down south, so as a nod to my roots, I am running the Great South Run in Portsmouth. This is a mere 10 mile run but I'm a long way from home for this one.
Ella's changing space is being sorted. Walls have been moved and due to the potential of a second hand changing bed loan, I have reduced our target from the initial £1000. Anything over what Natalie and I receive will be used for the continued maintenance of the main lift, platform lift, plus some new windows in our Junior classroom. School have been brilliant in the past with raising funds for these two lifts making the school accessible for not only her, but also any future wheelchair users or in fact anyone with a mobility issue. That was a mammoth effort raising over £75,000. The latest wheelchair platform lift was installed the week before she needed it, as she started her senior year. Incredible!
My hope is that even though Ella only has 3 years left at school (yikes), this changing space will be helpful to other families too.
Please donate whatever you can. She is a teenager now so her dignity or 'cool' needs to be maintained.
Much love to all those people who have supported us in the past and thanks in advance to those of you who will take the time to give to this. This may well be the last ever (school) fundraiser (for Ella this year) I will ever do! Unless emotionally blackmailed by friends or family. I'm a sucker for a good charity event.
