Story

My name is Dylan Mulvey and I am 13 years old. I have decided to abseil 13 stories down from the roof of the Pelican Hotel in Tooting, with my Dad, to raise funds for The St. George's Hospital Charity on the 12th March 2022.

Unfortunately, my Grandad was diagnosed with cancer in 2014 and lost his battle in January 2022. He was in and out of St. George's Hospital more times than we can remember since his diagnosis and always received fantastic care and treatment. I also lost my Granny in January 2012 after she was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour in December 2011 and lost her battle only 6 weeks later. In a cruel twist she passed away only a week after my brother was also born at St. George's. Likewise, she was treated by the staff there in her final weeks and received amazing care too.

I was lucky enough to be born at St. George's Hospital too and, as mentioned, so was my younger brother, Aidan and my cousins Mila and Arlo along with a large proportion of my friends and their siblings.

As you may know I love my Rugby and play for my school and Battersea Ironsides RFC. The St. George's Hospital Charity is one of the chosen charities that Battersea Ironsides support and for good reason. We have a huge number of players in the minis and seniors sections and when there is an injury it is often St. George's who will care for our teammates. Unfortunately I have had to visit them a few times to be treated too!!

The photos in the gallery above show the Pelican Hotel that we will be abseiling down as well as the view from the roof of the hotel. You will see that it overlooks St. George's Hospital in the background. In fact, it makes the hospital look rather small and for anyone who has been there it is anything but small.

I think that you will agree that St. George's Hospital is a fantastic local resource and it has been a very tough few years for everyone so it would be great if you could help me raise funds for this outstanding cause.

Thank you

Dylan & Dad
