Highland Hospice provides specialist care and support to terminally ill patients and their families in the Highlands. We have an In Patient Unit in Inverness, provide day care across the region and offer bereavement counselling for relatives. We aim to provide dignity when time matters most.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Myself and James both joined the RAF in 1982, we hit it off right away as we had both been in the services before, myself in the Army and James in the Royal Marines; he was probably the fittest person I had ever met, so you can imagine the shock when he phoned to tell me he had cancer and had only 3 weeks to live! We spoke a couple of more times over the phone and I told him that I would like to do some kind of event in his memory. He told me of the excellent work the hospice had done and their reliance on donation to keep going and asked for any fundraising to be donated to the hospice.

Cancer isn't discriminatory and it can affect anyone at any time, in fact with the chance of getting it at 3 to 1, no doubt we all know someone who has suffered from this diabolical disease. It can be a comfort to know that they are receiving the best care.

Just to paint a little picture of the measure of the man and charcter of James, when his wife, Jill, asked "why You"? He replied "why not me"!

I would be very grateful for any donation not matter how small it all adds up!
