Norton Trip Route 66
Me & my dad (Will & Richard) have set up a fantastic adventure this summer- to motorbike over 2450 miles along the historic Route 66. To raise much needed funds for the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment (PWRR), our local regiment that Richards grandfather served for during WW1 when part of it was known as the East Kent Buffs.
The trip will start midday on Saturday 25th June from Chicago's MCC Norton Motorcycle dealership and we aim to finish in Santa Monica on Saturday 9th July.
What makes this challenging adventure different:
-Father & Son Team
-Riding a brand new British registered Norton Commando mark 2 SF, flown in especially for the trip.
- Self funded trip with all donations raised going directly to PWRR
-You don’t have to be a solider or an ex solider (because were not, we just have ordinary jobs) to raise funds for this incredible cause... But its not about us, its about them (PWRR)
Here is some more information about The Friends of the PWRR
The Friends of the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment (PWRR) has been set up to support soldiers who face life altering circumstances as a result of serving our country.
Over the last 12 years The PWRR has seen continuous action in Iraq and Afghanistan and is one of the the most decorated infantry Regiments in the British Army. We have among our number one of only two serving recipients of the Victoria Cross – Sgt Johnson Beharry –as well as many others who have been recognised for their bravery.
However, this high tempo of operations takes its toll and we have many who have been injured on the front line or who are displaying signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, the biggest mental health issue faced by UK veterans.
The Friends of the PWRR fundraises throughout the year enabling the Regiment to provide ongoing support to our soldiers and their families. Whether this is access to medical treatment, rehabilitation, assistance with day to day tasks or guidance to help with their transition back in to civilian life, The Friends ensure that our soldiers have access to the correct advice when they need it most.
Please donate what you can & follow our journey by following us on Twitter @NortonTrip66 and help spread the word!
Much appricated
Richard & Will
