Sands is the charity speaking up about pregnancy and baby loss, saving babies’ lives and supporting bereaved families. Together, we are saving babies’ lives and improving maternity safety and bereavement care through research, training and campaigning.

Story

Thanks for dropping by (and hopefully dropping some money into the pot?)!

Like so many of us, most of my days are spent behind a computer screen, tapping away at business challenges. But we all need to stretch our legs – at least, that's what the pesky FitBit keeps reminding me.

Last year it was the UK's Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours (raising funds for St Barnabas – a local hospice).

For 2017, it's Kilimanjaro – Africa's highest mountain and, at circa 6,000m, a proper trek by any standards to raise funds for a very worthy charity (which I know from personal experience).

I'll be swapping the steps of stadium concourses and arena bowls, for the rocky paths to the top of Kili on a nine day trek (to the peak on 16 Feb). By all accounts, the walking is a solid challenge and the altitude (sickness) adds to the difficulty.

Please give generously so that my pain and effort is worthwhile – and that we can support a charity whose work is almost unknown and deserves more support and accolades.
