Anne, Dot & Monica

We have our Dream Home for the children.

Thank you so very much to everyone who has donated to our new home since the earthquake. We are very near to our target with more promises still to come in. I hope we will also be able to cover the cost of hiring a lorry to move. It will take many trips to move everything for this family of 40 people

A deal was agreed this afternoon [Wednesday 8th April 2015] for the purchase of a house not too far from their present location. It is currently being rented as a school and they will be moving out in 3 months - the end of July

There is a short fall in the proceeds from the sale of the land and the price of this house. There have been some very generous donations made and promised both in Nepal & UK
PLEASE CAN YOU HELP US RAISE THE EXTRA NEED - Every bit helps even if it is only a small amount and with the addition of 25% Gift Aid this can make a big difference

Please remember to tick the Gift Aid boxif you are a UK taxpayer

There were further delays in obtaining planning and access road for the land so it was decided that it should be sold and a buyer has been found
One of the
two adjoining properties occupied at Naxal in the centre of Kathmandu has now been repossessed, sold & demolished. There has been a temporary addition built onto the older building to accommodate the boys. Living conditions are very cramped and it is essential that different accommodation is found as soon as possible.

Rental is very expensive and landlords have refused to rent their property for use as a children’s home so buying is the best option
The land that was purchased has been put up for sale and there is someone interested in purchasing it. The proceeds from this sale will be used to help buy a ready built home

The children’s home is run by a non-profit making charity, which was set up in 1999 by a group of Nepalese business men and is called OCCED/Nepal [Organisation for Community, Child & EnvironmentDevelopment]. It takes care of approximately 40 children aged birth to 16 years who are orphaned, abandoned or displaced

All money donated will have Gift Aid added, if applicable, and transfered into the OCCED bank account.
