In 2015 our Dad died of cancer. He had gone to the Ellenor hospice for some rest and recuperation but unfortunately deteriorated and never returned home. He remained happy and in good spirits until the end, much of which was down to the dedication and support of the staff at Ellenor.  Less than two years previously, we lost our Mum who received care at home from the Ellenor nurses, allowing her to spend her final few days where she wished to be. 

Ellenor genuinely do an incredible job in providing support and respite for people with terminal illnesses, as well as end of life care. They have touched the lives of many in the area, so we thought we'd try and do something to help. We are attempting the National 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for them whilst at the same time doing something close to our Dad's heart in particular.

It's fair to say that the mountains were in his blood and in many ways his first love. Our childhood memories are all based in the mountains, Dad choosing to spend weeks on end in the Alps, Scotland or The Lake District whenever he could. As much as he loved it; we loathed it - every day of our school holidays spent schlepping up a mountain, moaning as we did so. I imagine we'll do pretty much the same in September.

In spite of the fact that neither of us rarely consider going for a walk in the country without there being tactical pints along the route, what better way to raise money for a fantastic organisation in Ellenor, whilst tipping a cap to our old man, wishing he was still here to do it too.
