OTCC Ride for Richard

ON BEHALF OF OUTDOOR TRADERS CYCLING CLUB
Following a crash during Ride London, our fellow club member and friend, Richard Kell, very sadly died on 23rd August 2016 as a result of his injuries.
On Sunday 16th October, the club are organising the OTCC 50-50-50 Ride for Richard: (at least) 50 riders cycling 50 miles and each trying to raise £50 for our chosen charity for 2016, I.M.P.S. (the Injury Minimisation Programme for Schools).
I.M.P.S. is one of the Oxford Radcliffe Hospital Charitable Funds. This Oxford based charity provides an injury prevention education programme for children, empowering young people to take personal responsibility for managing their own risk and equipping them with the skills to cope in an emergency. 90% of schools in Oxfordshire visit the hospital each year to learn injury prevention and emergency skills.
Unintentional injury is a leading cause of death and illness in young people. On average 2 million children attend A&E departments each year in the UK because of accidental injury and every week 5 children die. Many of these injuries are preventable. The I.M.P.S. education programmes and resources aim to minimise the number of accidents that led to death or disability.
