We help children with disabilities to achieve their potential

Story

At the end of last year I realised that I was slowly seizing up, and so I sent myself off to be "looked at" by an amazing Physiotherapist who managed to restore my mobility in ways that I couldn't have dreamt of. As a result of my Wife's even more impressive mobility improvement with the same practitioner we're now both enjoying walking and
getting a bit fitter. I’m the lucky one, my wife has a bit further to go in her recovery so whilst I'm waiting for her to catch up (and probably overtake me) I thought, "What can I do with this new found bit of my life?".

That's when it dawned on me....Walk the Pilgrims' Way (Winchester to Canterbury) as a bit of an adventure ( for a grumpy old man who's discovered that 60+ doesn't necessarily mean being confined to becoming an expert on repeats of Escape to the Country etc.)!

So that's what I'm going to do from September 14th to the 28th
(inclusive), walk 130 odd miles for fun (well, for a challenge). It's all going to be self supporting with some nights camping (yes, I know) and some B&B, and some in local Inns (looking forward to those)!

It's all quite exciting in the planning, and as the start of the
adventure got closer I wondered whether others (apart from me) could benefit from this bout of madness.

There's one reason for this walk and that is, "Because I Can",
which wasn't the case at the end of last year. So I'm hoping that I could raise some cash for a cause which I think is so deserving,

Brainwave believes in a world where every child
with disabilities reaches their potential. Their multidisciplinary team of
therapists take the time to fully assess each individual child and their
family’s needs in the relaxed, fun and friendly atmosphere of their fully
equipped Brainwave Centres. They develop a structured and bespoke Therapy Programme which fits in with family life and helps children achieve greater independence. With your support, they can help more families find the guidance and support they’ve been looking for.

So there it is, I was lucky in being able to be helped by physiotherapy to the extent that I can consider walking a well known (But not too “wild”) historic path, and at the same time hopefully make a difference to some really deserving people at the start of their lives. It all seems to fit so well, that it would be such a shame not to do it! Thank you
everyone for making your donations.... Everyone involved so appreciates it!!!
