Story
Hello!
On Sunday the 25th of September I shall be dragging my beer loving, cake fuelled body 26odd miles around Nottingham in the Robin Hood Marathon. Whilst doing this, and seeing as I will be relentlessly wanging on about my "training" anyway, I thought this would be a great opportunity to try and raise awareness and hopefully support for a wonderful local charity.
I first became familiar with School For Parents work through the experience of my brother and sister in law, and their little boy Noah, over the past 4 years. I will never be able to fully understand the challenges of raising a disabled child, but what I do know for sure is that it IS a challenge.
School for parents mission is to enable disabled children to achieve their full potential, at the same time working with their parents to help them understand and accept their child's disability. It can be a very scary, heartbreaking, and lonely place raising a disabled child, and for those parents of Nottingham in this Position, School for Parents is the lifeline they hoped they would never need. Their tireless work with these families is admirable, and I am proud to associated with them.
I will be writing more about this fantastic organisation over the next few weeks and months, as well as detailing just how badly my training is going. Please keep following my progress, I promise to keep the stories fun and the shorts length modest.
Peace and love,
Olj
