Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hey everyone,

Well it's been a couple of years since I've done this but I feel if ever there was a time that our charities need us it is now! I'm sure we have all been doing our part in supporting and donating to our frontline heroes but we must not forget the charities close to our hearts who unfortunately will suffer huge losses this year in fundraising.

So with that in mind I thought i would set this back up again in the hope of raising a few euros for Milford Hospice. Now those of you who know me know why I have chosen this charity. It's now been 6 years since Mike sadly passed away after receiving the best care in Milford. For those of us who have experienced the fantastic care and support in Milford for our loved ones, we know how important it is to do our part in keeping this amazing facility going through our fundraising. They still need our help!

As you all know since Mike passed away 6 years ago we have run the Great Limerick Run in Mike's memory every year whilst raising a whopping total of €20,000 over a 5 year period. This was all down to our supporters who very generously donated year after year. Last year we decided to take a break from fundraising but it didn't stop us running the GLR with Mike in our hearts like every other year.

Now like everyone I was pretty devastated to see race after race cancelled or postponed this year but I had one aim and that was to run my 13.1 miles on the day I was supposed to with Mike in my heart and of course on my back as I will still be stepping out in my "Mike" singlet!

So I kept the training going and clocked up the miles which obviously got harder in April having to keep within a 2km radius and a lot of running in circles 😁 After counting up my mileage last week I realised I was getting quite close to clocking 100 miles in the month of April so here's what I decided to do; I've thrown in a few unscheduled runs to help myself get closer to the 100 miles, my last run will be this Sunday May 3rd when I will finish up with my 13.1 miles for Mike and hopefully complete it whilst finally reaching the 100 mile mark!

I will then be donating €1 for every mile I've run in what can only be described as the strangest time we will ever see in our lifetime and I'm inviting you to join me. So if you can spare 1 cent or 2 cent or 10 cent for every mile I complete then you will be helping hugely! I know everyone is going to suffer financially  for what's happening at the moment so if you can't afford to donate then maybe go for a run on sunday in Mike's memory, send me a pic or send me a message of support to get through it and that will mean the world to me too.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, much love to you all xx
