Spinnaker Tower Abseil · 25 June 2022
A few months ago we were invited to go to the Family Centre at The Elizabeth Foundation to see some of their incredible Specialist Teachers of the Deaf in action. We also were lucky enough to meet some of the amazing kids which The Elizabeth Foundation help to learn to listen and talk.
After seeing the facilities we sat down to have an eye opening conversation with Karen Vaughan , Deputy Chief Executive, about the history of The Elizabeth Foundation and what we can do to help in the future. Karen challenged us to Do Something Different for Deafness and the idea of an abseil was introduced. After a little convincing we both agreed to the challenge to help fundraise.
As a charity The Elizabeth Foundation does not receive any government funding and therefore must fundraise to be able to keep helping the children the best they can. Any donations will make a big difference to the charity and everyone which they help.
We would like to challenge all who see this to also Do Something Different for Deafness!
You can find more information about The Elizabeth Foundation and the inspiring work which they do by going to their website: https://elizabeth-foundation.org/
Our abseil will take place at the Spinnaker Tower on June 25th 2022 at 10:00am. Please do come down and support us if you can!
“We thought that he would never be able to speak to us... Nor, more importantly, would he ever be able to hear us tell him we love him.” Parent of profoundly deaf little boy. The Elizabeth Foundation (TEF) helps deaf babies and pre school children learn to listen and speak. We are there to support and inform families from the moment their child is diagnosed with any degree of hearing loss. This year over 80 babies, toddlers and pre-school children will attend specialist education programmes and get individual speech and language therapy
