On 2nd April 2023 I’m going to be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Addison’s UK.

Addison’s is a rare endocrine condition where the adrenal glands do not produce enough steroid hormone. It is a life-threatening illness.

Addison’s UK work to improve the lives of people with Addison’s Disease, adrenal insufficiency, and all who support them through research, guidance, and raising awareness.

My brother’s girlfriend, Tilly, was diagnosed with Addison’s in 2018, following a life-threatening adrenal crisis. Unfortunately, it has proved very difficult to stabilise her on the steroids; the following years have been characterised by repeated emergency injections, ambulances, and hospital admissions (the most recent of which was 70 days). This culminated in her joining a research trial for a hydrocortisone pump; she now has a pump injecting cortisol into her 24/7.

I am running this half marathon to raise funds for Addison’s UK so they can continue to support people like Tilly.
