Story
So! I've had my medical tests, and great news - I've been cleared to donate my stem cells. This is happening in a few weeks' time - Monday October 17th. Exciting stuff. There's not much more to it than that!
Anthony Nolan have had to pay for a lot of aspects of my treatment - from the kit that got me onto the registry (that alone costs £60), and presumably to parts of my medical examination, and indeed to my hospital stay when I donate. They also cover travel costs and expenses (thankfully being a Londoner, I've not incurred any!). It's not a cheap process, and they of course rely an awful lot on donations - which is why I'm asking you guys to help out.
Anything would be appreciated - rest assured this is all for a fantastic cause, which is outlined below.
Perhaps most importantly, though - I had to join the register off my own back to see if I was a match for someone. So, please, even if you can't contribute financially, JOIN THE REGISTER. It's at no cost to you - and if you're a match, you're making a massive difference to someone's life. They're looking for those who are under 30 mainly. Even better is if you're of BAME heritage, like me - here's why:
"Currently, only 60% of transplant patients receive the best possible match, and this drops dramatically to 20.5% if you're from a black, Asian or ethnic minority background."
If you can - do you part and help #BeTheCure.
Love,
Paddy x

Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. They do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells, to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. They also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. They won’t stop until they save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings them closer to that day.
