On January 27 I will be taking part in an expedition  to the Rwenzori – the Mountains of the Moon in Uganda, the largest snow and glacial mountain range in Africa.

 

With a small team of six , the route will go through swampland, jungle and unique high altitude vegetation, culminating in a snow and ice-field climbing to the top of Margherita  Peak on Mount Stanley,  at 5109 metres (17,000 ft), the third highest summit on the African Continent.We will be climbing for 8 or 9 days (if we are lucky!) through what is some of the most spectacular scenery on earth. A glacier virtually on the equator - fact is stranger than fiction.  It is not a charity trek as such. But as usual, I would like to take the wonderful opportunity that i have to raise some money for Egerton Youth Club in knutsford. I was involved for almost 20 years with the club and have seen it develop into what it is today - a fantastic facility that caters for hundreds of children every week and depends entirely on volunteers, subscriptions, donations and fundraising. Not a penny of public support - so your help is hugely appreciated. Thanks - hope to see you safe and sound in a few eeks time.
