At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

My nan was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at the age of 59(2009) 18months later we noticed that something else was wrong, we took her to several doctors who couldn't really help as she couldn't communicate because of the Alzheimer's. 3 days before she died we were all called to see the doctor as they had an diagnosis, she had cancer. Their was nothing they could do. On the day after the diagnosis we had a phone call on the evening from my grandad who said "she's in the ambulance and she has heart failure they don't think she will make it".                                                                       Me and my family rushed to the hospital which was a 4hour drive as we live in Wales.we wasn't sure if we would make it in time, but we did. (14th September).                          My nan never regained consciousness as we knew she wouldn't have long. We all liked to believe that she knew that we were there until the end.

She sadly passed away on September 17th 2011 at 1.05am.

I am Paige. I am 14years old. I always think my nan is looking over me and proud of what I have achieved in life so far and what I have to come.

She still part if my life every day.
