Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This will be the eighth year that we at Mansfield St Mark have held the 'Mansfield Big Snore'. It is an event to raise awareness of homelessness in our town, and by sponsorship to generate funds for Framework, the Notts. homelessness charity. How does it work? Anyone can register and turn up at St Mark's church, have some supper, take part in a time to reflect on homelessness and then sleep out overnight in the car park. We have 60 people registered this year, some youth groups but also individuals of all ages. Our local MP will be there to support. We hope to exceed the £10,000 raised last year and it is very important to do so. Already, spending cuts are being made to homelessness charities adversely affecting staffing numbers, provision of resources, services and accommodation.  This is one of the coldest winters on record. Our volunteers will brave the elements, regardless of the weather and make homelessness more visible for one night.

I have to admit that I shall not be sleeping outdoors. I am involved in organising the event, in hospitality and in providing the meals. I shall be there all night but dozing in the hall on my campbed. Nonetheless, I hope you feel that you can support me and the event. Please give what you can and keep us all in your thoughts on the night of Friday 4 February 2011. Thank you very much. Pam
