Story
I'm fundraising this December to help raise funds for St John's Ambulance. As a teen I was a St John's Ambulance cadet, and whilst I'm no longer physically able to do that kind of volunteering as an adult, I still believe in the work that St John's does.
My goal is to read 12 full books throughout December (which is not easy when you work full time!) with the hopes that you'll all be cheering me on, and maybe putting the equivalent of spare change into the virtual donation bucket.
I'll be posting updates on here and on my social media for you all to keep up with how I'm doing.
Below is an example of what St John's Ambulance actually do every day.
Help me support St John so they can support more people like Richard. Richard visited a popular wild swimming spot last summer. It was also part of the Norwich Triathlon. It was 30°C, & the cold water looked inviting to Richard, he got in quickly & swam to the deeper part, he swam for 10–15 minutes.Afterwards, Richard felt cold & had swollen hands – nothing unusual, he thought. But on the drive back, he suddenly felt very unwell. They pulled over, & he collapsed by the side of the road.A triathlon runner helped, & a local brought blankets. But as RIchard said "it was a huge relief when St John Ambulance volunteers Andrew and Ben arrived". They assessed him, gave him oxygen, checked his heart, & realised he likely had hypothermia. A real danger, but they acted fast.If St John Ambulance hadn’t been there, Richard says he "dreads to think what could’ve happened"By supporting my page you are supporting more volunteers like Andrew and Ben to save people like Richard.
