I'm so excited to be running my first London Marathon for the Attlee Centre, a treasured community centre for families in Tower Hamlets, East London that was set up in 2006. The Centre is a quiet oasis in the bustling city, with a free adventure playground and activities for kids in the local area. It's a lifeline for local families during the school holidays, keeping older kids off the streets and offering relief for lower-income families with younger kids. During school holidays about 30 local kids come to the centre daily, and its football pitches are fully booked. This is a thriving hub for the local community, and a venue for after school clubs where such activities are lacking. Of the six nearby primary schools, only one has funding for after-school clubs. Many of these kids come to the Attlee Centre. 

Established by the Attlee Foundation, it shares a commitment to the ethos of former U.K. Prime Minister Clement Attlee's vision of overcoming barriers to equality of opportunity. 

Covid has hit charities hard, including the Attlee Centre. With government funding recently cut, the charity desperately needs money to replace two key features of the playground, which are cordoned off by warning tape, and to hire more staff to help run activities for the kids. 

We went to visit the Centre with our kids in May 2022, and were blown away by the facilities and friendly staff. Our kids had a blast playing on the trampolines, obstacle course and especially being pulled around on wheelie boards -- they could have stayed for hours longer. I'd love to raise as much money as I can for this wonderful charity and I hope you'll help.
