La Rochelle to Lake Geneva · 13 April 2016

Every day of the year, your local air ambulance (Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland) is helping save more lives. Our critical care paramedics, doctors and pilots attend an average of five rescue missions a day. We receive no government funding for our daily missions. Your support keeps us flying.

Story

La Rochelle to Geneva

In October 2015 I was seriously injured in a road traffic accident and was airlifted to Walsgrave hospital with multiple fractures and internal injuries. Whilst in hospital I read a book by Susie Kelly who had walked from La Rochelle to Geneva and this became the inspiration for me to cycle this route next year with my wife to raise funds for the Leicestershire and Warwickshire air ambulance to which I owe so much. Each rescue costs an average of £1700 so it is our intention to raise at least that amount by cycling some 500 plus miles across France in the summer of 2017. My thanks to Susie Kelly for her support and advice and to Paddox cycles of Rugby for keeping our bikes on the road.
