Hello, If you are unaware my name is Paul Galvin, and I was diagnosed with a kidney condition in 2006. My condition is called IgA ,(Berger's disease). In early 2010 my kidneys failed and I was put on emergency dialysis a bit of a shocker, after the emergency dialysis I was put on a more permanent type of dialysis called Peritoneal dialysis and I did this for 3 years but was very ill during this period with 5 attacks of peritonitis and a stroke. But I was lucky and got a transplant after 4 years (I was so lucky some stranger must of being carrying a donor card and I will be thankfully to that person and there family for every). My transplant lasted 5 years it was great went back to work where I managed for Lounges then for Franco Manca Restaurant’s but in mid 2018 it failed I had to give up a job I loved. The transplant resented to the IgA again. So now I’m back on dialysis but this time I get to do it at home, I do it daily for 4 hours I plug myself in and of I go. This walk is so I can give back and say thank you to all the great staff who have been amazing and to help raise money for research into the future. The money you will hopefully make people with kidney disease Lives easier, as for me there will never be a cure I just need a new kidney....Let’s hope.
So this will be a challenge for me as I struggle to walk more than 1/2 a km and some days I can’t even get out of bed, I need a goal and this is it. Now if you can help me reach my fundraising goal that would be great. Thanks.
