Quadruple Marathon Challenge in April 2012: Northampton (8th April), Brighton (15th April), London (22nd April) and Milton Keynes (29th April). · 8 April 2012

The Hospice helps people to live their precious lives well. Our care has many forms – at home, in our outpatient Spring Centre or through specialised care in one of our Hospice beds - and is defined by each person's need. We rely on donations to raise the £6m we need each year to fund our free care.

Story

I’m setting myself the challenge of running not one marathon, or two, or three……in fact during the month of April 2012, I will be running FOUR marathons!! Starting with the Northampton marathon on the 8th, then Brighton on 15th, the BIG London one on 22nd and ending up in Milton Keynes on 29th.

I am running all these marathons in aid of one charity, The Hospice of St Francis. The Hospice of St Francis, based in Berkhamsted, provides care for people with life limiting illnesses in North West Herts and the Chiltern area of Bucks, a catchment area of over 300,000 people. Their aim is to improve the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problems associated with life threatening disease. Their care is given for free via the Inpatient Unit, Specialist Home Care, Day Hospice, Outpatient appointments and Supportive care providing counselling to loved ones. They also have a specialist service for children affected by the illness of a family member.

I believe in the people at St Francis and I believe in the work that they do to help people in their care and their families. The love that they give is of great comfort to the families and friends of those that are suffering. I lost my granddad to Alzheimer's in 2005, who spent his final years in a hospice in Newcastle, and found the warmth and spirit of the staff offered my family great peace. At Saracens, one of our family lost his charming mum, Jessica, and the staff at St Francis offered such comfort to Chris, Graham and Alex that I feel honoured and humbled to represent this particular hospice for the love and care that they gave to our friend.

Please support The Hospice of St Francis and help me reach my goal. Thanks so much, I really appreciate your support.

Paul.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
