MQ Mental Health Research is a charity formed to support research into mental illness. By funding research, we will be able to understand mental illness, improve current treatments, identify new ones and transform the lives of those affected: over 15 million in the UK. Better is possible.

Story

Once again I am taking to two wheels at the end of the summer to raise money for a mental health charity.  This year there is a special significance to the ride as I will be tracing the line of the Western Front 100 years after the Battle of the Somme.

I am raising money for MQ Transforming Mental Health.  Research is one of the areas which epitomises the lack of equality between physical and mental health.  While mental health problems represent 23% of the demand on the NHS it get's less than 5.8% of the research spend.  MQ has been established as the country's first mental health research charity with the aim of challenging that disparity and investing in research which will help develop our understanding of mental health problems and improve our chances of finding new treatments.

Please contribute if you can to help their work and to make a difference to the lives of people affected by mental health problems.
