Myself and my sister-in-law Emily have decided to run our first marathon in memory of our wonderful mother-in-law Anne Mahaffey who was diagnosed with MND just over 3 years ago but who sadly lost her brave battle in February 2021 at the age of 68. The generous funds you donate will enable valuable research to continue in the fight to find a cure and also help to support those people, and their families living with this terrible disease. We will therefore run in support of all those who look after loved ones, with special dedication to the memory of our father-in-law Richard Mahaffey who devoted his last years to lovingly caring for his wife Anne.

Now those who know me will be aware that I am not built for running - an 18 stone bloke who although has played a bit of rugby in the past, isn’t the most athletic, so this will be a truly “couch to marathon” effort and I have no doubt that Anne & Richard will be looking down having a little chuckle at that thought! I therefore need as much motivation as possible and your generosity and encouragement will help me get to the finish line.
