Guy's Hospital Abseil Challenge · 30 May 2010

Spinal Muscular Atrophy UK is the charity for people affected by SMA. We provide emotional support for anyone affected by SMA and fund research related activities.

Story

Hi Guy's

I have decided to take the plunge and abseil down Guy's Hospital Tower for a good cause. What is the cause you may ask, well it is The Jennifer Trust for Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

The Jennifer Trust (set up in 1985) helps to support individuals with Spinal Muscular Atropy (SMA) and fund research into finding causes and new treatments that could eventually lead to a cure for this condition.

SMA is an inherited neuromuscular disease which results in muscle wastage, around 1 in 40 of us carry the genetic mutation that causes this disease. SMA greatly reduces quality of life for a sufferer.

A bit more about the abseil:

- It's down Guy's Tower (which is the second tallest hospital building in the world, standing at 469ft)
- I am terrified of heights
- Takes place on Sunday 30th May - Morning

I would appreciate anything that you would be able to contribute, as your money would help The Jennifer Trust to continue to support SMA sufferers and fund research.
